The selection below ends our series showcasing a collaboration of photography and poetry. Thank you, Tom Darin Liskey, for offering up your stunning images for reflection. Have a blessed Easter, my friends.
He is risen.
He is risen indeed.
The Cross
What is there to say
about a cross with bling?
In your face, judgment.
Read the topography
of hands that have seen
more of grit than grace.
In your face, death.
These hands hold
my hall pass,
my free ticket,
my take-it-to-the-limit
shiny sacrifice symbol.
In your face, wealth and
society and learned signals
of righteous productivity.
I’ll get mine and you’ll
get yours and we will
all find out and be found
on the other side
of an empty grave.
