Is That Your Body Blocking the Light?

By Bethany Rohde

Across this lawn,

blacktop of shadow
cast between us.
Darkness you did not intend.

How can you, Oak Tree of seventy,
be obscurity and beacon, both?
Through leaves,
I hear whispers growing fainter,
Sh- sh- sh, until we share

each other’s air
again.

Kelly, I apologize for replying to you instead of Bethany.  I think I’m getting the procedure and will try to remember the next time she gets posted.  Obviously, I am so proud of her and so touched by her work.  Sincerely, Faith Whetstone, honored to her mom
